info-x-change launchesA new consultancy focussing on website and web application publishing and development FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE info-x-change sprang into being on or around June 2. Its focus is rapid website or web application development using Plone and Ruby on Rails, respectively. The organizing principle for info-x-change is that web technology has advanced to the point where it (or its occasionally surly staff) should not impede information production. In the case of organizations whose constituents rely on the timely communication of news, this means placing the ability to deliver that news in the hands of the people with the skill to present it, not via a tech intermediary. In an age where individuals have an array of tools to broadcast their musings to the internet, shouldn't organizations with an information mandate have similar capability? info-x-change was founded by Robert Carter, a long-time eCommerce denizen. Robert produced websites for Microsoft (SiteBuilder and MSDN), built stores (and integration platforms) for Amazon (Computers and Apparel), and helped migrate the Gap.com codebase to .NET to J2EE, with a particular focus on promotion engines and data pipelines. He's led development teams under a variety of methodologies, and prizes his ability to balance the interplay of business goals and technical capabilities to achieve the best short- and long-term outcomes.
